Safeguarding

At Field View Primary School the safety and well-being of our pupils and staff is paramount. We have an urgent and relentless approach when dealing with safeguarding.

We understand that – safeguarding, and promoting the welfare of children, is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all professionals should make sure their approach is child-centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.

We follow the child protection procedures as defined by Wolverhampton Safeguarding Home – Wolverhampton Safeguarding Together  and multi-agency threshold guidance. We work with partners to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.

All staff in our school have safeguarding training annually and regular updates and quizzes throughout the year to ensure their understanding is up to date. Our Pastoral Officer and SLT are trained in Level 2. This team monitor and review the safety and well-being of all pupils, meet regularly to evaluate provision and lead internal training. They work closely with all staff and often with individual and/or small groups of children.

Our Safeguarding Team is made up of:

  • Mrs Price – Head of School
  • Mrs Alaimo – Pastoral Manager
  • Mrs Smith-Hughes – Assistant Headteacher
  • Mrs Chuhan -Assistant Headteacher

Domestic Abuse / Operation Encompass

We work in partnership with West Midlands Police to ensure support for children living with domestic abuse. Our Designated Safeguarding Leads receive an alert when police have attended an incident in the home. This allows our Safeguarding Leads to offer the family immediate support, safeguarding children from the short, medium and long term effects of domestic abuse.

Early Help

At times, additional support is required by families to manage life’s difficulties and our school seeks to play a key role in supporting them. Our Parent Advisor can offer advice on a range of family issues or support with referrals to outside agencies for specialist support.
